Dr. Darrell S. Lavin

Dr. Darrell Lavin was born and raised in Castro Valley and is a product of the Castro Valley Unified School District.

Dr. Lavin was an All East Bay baseball player and 1981 Oakland Tribune Athlete of the Year in high school. After playing baseball at UC Santa Barbara he earned a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, with honors. At UCSB, he became an assistant athletic trainer where he had the opportunity to work with top collegiate athletes.

Dr. Lavin combined his athletic background, his experiences in the athletic training setting, his degree in Biological Sciences and his interest in health care as he enrolled in Life Chiropractic College West. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 1989 with Highest Honors.

Since opening his private practice in October of 1989, he has completed specialized courses in the treatment of whiplash and spinal trauma, received certification as a Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, qualified as an Industrial Disability Examiner, been appointed by the State of California as a Qualified Medical Evaluator, and has specialized training from the Titleist Performance Institute as a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor.

Dr. Lavin is very active in the local community. He is a member of the Castro Valley Rotary Club where he served as President and Assistant District Governor. He is a regular sponsor of numerous youth sports leagues, booster clubs and local theater. He is a member of the Executives Association of Southern Alameda County. He is a Board Member of the Joseph Matteucci Foundation, the Castro Valley Center for Arts Foundation and the Castro Valley Sports Foundation.

Additionally, Dr. Lavin, an avid golfer, has combined his 17 years of experience as a chiropractor with his love of golf to develop Performance Golf Analysis. He carries a 9.0 NCGA handicap.

Dr. Lavin is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute as a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor. He has also done training with Body Balance for Performance to be a Golf Performance Enhancement Specialist.

Lavin Chiropractic is conveniently located on Redwood Road, next to the BART parking lot and between Java Bob"s and Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley's office.
